Driving a school bus is unlike driving any other vehicle. The sounds, the weather, the traffic, and tight time schedules all add up to a very complex job – not to mention the heavy responsibility of transporting several dozen children. To make the task more manageable, it’s important to make sure the driver is empowered with the tools they want and need. It’s a philosophy we call DriverFirst™, which is our commitment to do everything we can to provide a working environment that puts drivers in a position to succeed. Let’s take a look at some of the IC Bus® CE Series features that school bus drivers will appreciate.

The Next Generation CE Series includes the very latest in safety technology. These features are essential when it comes to empowering the driver with critical information and keeping children out of harm’s way.

  •  Bendix® Intellipark® electronic parking brake standard (on air brake units)
  • Entrance doors integrated into dash cluster, providing ‘Door Ajar’ warning if bus reaches certain speed prior to door being fully closed
  • Electronic stability control

Built Better to Last Longer

Our goal was to build a school bus that would not only provide the utmost protection for students, but get high marks from the people who buy, use, and maintain it. So we started with an IC Bus™ integrated chassis and built an all-steel cage body onto it. We added 16-gauge steel side sheets and 18,500-lb. rear steel-spring suspension.

A school bus’s primary goal is safeguarding children at every stop. So we placed lighted controls for the entrance door, warning lights and other high-use items on the steering wheel. We increased the height and width of the entrance door to keep students more visible, and to make sure the bus is completely empty at the end of the day, we made our Leave No Student Behind® safety system standard equipment. It’s a combination of safety features other school buses simply can’t match. For mechanics, we made maintenance easy with a lightweight, Easy Tilt hood, coordinated service intervals, and a self-diagnosing Diamond Logic electrical system. As with all our buses, IC Bus has you covered throughout the entire ownership experience with our complete bus diagnostic checkup computer system, an expansive parts distribution system and an unmatched dealer network for 24/7 support.

If you need to upgrade your school district’s transportation fleet, trust IC school buses with the safety and well-being of students. From field trips where a school bus can serve as a second classroom, to delivering kids to school or home, IC Bus has your back.
Collins developed the first Type A school bus in 1967 and for more than five decades we’ve been committed to innovating the future of school buses and ensuring we protect our most important passengers – mile after mile. Innovative engineering and platform flexibility fuel our process to build buses that meet every need and deliver industry-leading strength and safety. Collins designs and manufactures school buses that are at the head of their class
